TROPICAL FRUIT SALAD with ANGEL SAUCE serves 2
What you need 1 papaya, peeled, de-seeded and sliced For angel sauce: 100 g (4 oz) tofu Here’s how Cut the fruit into various sizes so you get a good variation in size and texture in this salad. The best way to cut the bananas is to slice them lengthways twice and then chop into small pieces. Mix together the ingredients for the Angel Sauce, except for the nutmeg and lime slices, and blend in a food processor until smooth. Sprinkle with nutmeg and serve immediately with a slice of lime on the side of each dish. |

For me, no fruits breathe passion quite so much as the tropical ones – coconut, papaya, mango, bananas. Almost any kind of tropical fruit has a sensuous quality to it that makes a tropical fruit salad an ideal food for love. This is one of my favorite combinations. It makes generous quantities, so unless you’re going to have it on its own without other foods, I suggest you cut the recipe in half. |

Nutmeg – psychoactive spice nutmeg The seeds of the nutmeg plant Myristica fragrans is rich in psychoactive ingredients including myristin (which you also find in dill and black pepper), pinene and safrole. All of these ingredients – and maybe more as yet undiscovered within this spice – have marked hallucinogenic properties. So valued were they in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries that Spanish galleons were sent out to trade gold for nutmeg and pepper. At that time nutmeg was eaten, sniffed or smoked. In large quantities, nutmeg can be dangerous. In the small quantities in which we use it in our cooking it simply brings about a wonderful sense of expanded reality. |
