The number of people writing to me with questions is phenomonal - I could fill a book with them. So I decided it maybe beneficial to show some of the more commonly asked questions and my responses to them. However, some of the recommendations may not be appropriate in all situations and are not intended as a substitute for treatment or services ordinarily provided by health care professionals for physiological or psychological complaints. Always review any information that you receive on-line with your personal medical care provider. Because of the complexity of medical situations, medical questions will not be addressed.

I've also selective resources relative to healing that I want to tell you about. FAQ Archives.

1 : I am breast feeding. Is it safe to go into ketosis?

Absolutely not. The Ketogenic Diet is not appropriate for anyone during pregnancy and breast feeding.

2 : Does Soya yogurt, whey powder and fruit constitute a ketogenic breakfast?

Yes, it sounds fine. But make sure you know how many carbs there are in each of the items you are making the breakfast up from.

3: I am just wondering if you are coming to Sydney as you have mentioned a tour of Australia. If so, when will you be there? I would love to meet the Lady who inspires, in person.

I did a tour of Australia in March. I would imagine I will be back there again in September or October with the publication of Age Power.

4: I have begun to follow your X Factor Diet and am enjoying it. The thing I battle with is motivation – I have about 6 and a half stone to lose. I am already flabby with stretch marks. Will I have loose flesh and is there anything I can do about stretch marks?

I think the motivation for change always has to come from a sense of genuine self esteem, mainly thinking of yourself as someone who actually matters. For most of us this can be quite a challenge as often our parental, educational, and religious upbringing unconsciously creates totally opposite assumptions in us. You need to be doing what you are doing because you know that you can be more truly who you are by doing it, and because you want to feel and look your very best. The process of transformation is one that it’s important to allow yourself to enjoy at any stage of the transformation. So many people think they need to wait to begin living until they have lost the six and a half stone. This is not the case and if you have this attitude, it makes it extremely difficult to maintain motivation. As far as loose flesh is concerned, provided you are doing weight bearing exercise each day which is part of the X Factor program and taking your walks, your fat will slowly be melted and your body will naturally reshape itself into its own natural form. I wouldn’t worry too much about this. There is an excellent product in the United States called Body Image, taken together with another product called Coenzyme A, available from the same company. It can be a useful adjunct in building muscle, firming flesh and heightening energy. I have no idea what country you live in but I suggest you look at their website which is www.coenzyme-a.com for further information.

5: Thank you for continuing to write. I have read most of your books with fascination, despite not managing to apply many of the practices you recommend (I am due to start the X Factor diet though). I was particularly pleased to read that you and Susannah are planning a new edition of Endless Energy, which I found a great tool at a very difficult time of my life. My question relates to a new product Holosync that I saw on your website. Is it an advertisement or is it being recommended? It sounds interesting, but I would feel far more comfortable using it knowing your team have tried it.

A: Thank you so much for your note. It is so kind of you to write. As a writer I spend endless weeks researching things and then endless hours putting together what I feel is of value to create a book. It can be an exceptionally lonely task. So much so that when a book is finished it often leaves me feeling somewhat deflated. As I just finished a huge book, Age Power, to be published in August of this year in the UK and in September and October in other countries, it was particularly lovely to awaken this morning and find your comments. Many many thanks. As far as Holosync is concerned, no, in no way is there an advertisement for it on the website. I wrote about it some months ago. I think my webmaster made a mistake in that what I wrote apparently did not remain archived on the website. I have spoken to her about this and I think that all the information will be back soon. The link to Centrepointe’s website was simply a way of being able to help people who read about it on my website to go through and learn more about it. It is a remarkable technology which I have been using for many months now and think is wonderful. Do read what I said about it in the archives.

6: Can you tell me the best way to beat PMT sugar cravings? I can eat extremely healthily for two weeks out of four but then suffer uncontrollable cravings and "have to have" chocolate! I’ve tried not having any chocolate at all and I’ve tried allowing myself a small amount each day, but neither of these work as I seem to lack the willpower!

It’s very likely that you have an overgrowth of the yeast or fungi Candida albicans. This is the most common cause of this kind of sugar craving and is very much aligned with disturbances in blood sugar and insulin levels. However, this is a very complex issue and cannot be dealt with simply. I have covered it at length in my book Age Power which is to be published in the UK in August and in other countries of the world in September. Do take a look at the chapter called Scourge of Power.

7: Like most people, I have tried a range of skincare products with not that great a result. Do you recommend one or a number of brands that you have found to get results? Or do you make your own? Have you used Cellex C and if so, what are your comments on it. Thank you for your time.

Yes, I certainly have tried just about every skin care product on the market. There is one that I think stands out above all the rest. It is very little known. It’s called Skin Matrix and its produced by Coenzyme A Technologies in Seattle, Washington www.coenzyme-a.com. It is so far in advance of anything else that I have ever seen that it is hard to describe exactly how it works. In effect it supplies the skin with exactly what it needs to function at the very highest level of homeostasis and metabolic efficiency. It is a product you spray on your face after washing the skin morning and night. You can use it with a moisturizer if you have dry skin or if you don’t have particularly dry skin, the Skin Matrix itself is likely to be all you need. It certainly is the only treatment product you will ever need. It is so good that when I conceived and created the Origins products in the late eighties for Estee Lauder, if I had known the integrated biochemist who had created it, I would have used him for the Origins range. The Skin Matrix is so pure by the way that you could quite literally drink it.

8: I’ve just bought the X Factor Diet and it sounds great to help having a healthy way of eating. I would like to follow your advice and do the Insulin Balance Diet. The trouble is that I do not need nor want to lose weight at all (55kg for 1.65cm, 23% body fat). Is the X Factor diet suitable for a person who doesn’t want to lose weight at all but only needs to have a healthy way of eating?

The X Factor Insulin Balance way of eating is ideal for just about anyone. It forms the core of the nutritional program that you will find in my forthcoming book Age Power. It was in the process of researching Age Power that I discovered that important information out of which the X Factor Diet was created. The X Factor Diet is primarily slanted towards people who want to lose weight. However, the principles of eating are of benefit to anyone. They allow the body to normalize and restore proper homeostasis.

9: Can you confirm I am working out the carbohydrate content correctly e.g. from the packaging on Soya milk the carb content is 0.6 per 100ml, fiber is 1.2g per 100ml, therefore deducting the fiber content from the carb content would mean there was no carbs! Am I correct? Also, using this was of calculation, some vegetables also work out to have no carbs such as mushrooms, celeriac, asparagus, broccoli, spinach, olives. Does this mean I can eat them freely? Also, your carb table seems to differ from the packaging of the products I buy, am I misreading something?

I am having trouble getting into ketosis. I managed it for one day only. I have even cut out decaf coffee and diet drinks including decaf diet coke and am drinking herbal teas but I am still not in ketosis. Can you help please?

I think that either you are not reading the label correctly or the nutritional content of the label is not correctly listed. The only other possibility is that for some reason the manufacturers of the particular brand of Soya milk you are using have separated out the usable carbohydrate content from the fiber content. As far as determining the carbohydrate content of other foods, do look at the charts in the back of X Factor Diet. That will guide you.

Everyone gets into ketosis at a different level. If you are having trouble getting into ketosis you need to increase the amount of exercise you are doing and also to be aware of any hidden carbohydrate that you may be taking into your body that you are not taking into account. But remember that people are individual. For instance, to put my own body into ketosis I need a very low level of carbohydrate compared to most people, who go into ketosis at a much higher level.

10: No question, just wanted to recommend 'Goatein' as an alternative protein powder to microfiltered whey. It's a minimally processed organic goats milk protein, predigested with probiotics and yielding a very high amino acid content, including glutathione precursors. Made by Garden of Life USA and available from www.primaldefense.net, among other sources. Have a look at their other products as well -including their green food product 'Perfect Food'. I'm not affiliated with them, I've just had excellent results.

Thank you so much for letting us know.

11: I suffer from endometriosis and had a cyst removed from one of my ovaries in early 2000. Some of the ovary was also removed. As a result I suffered from night sweats and hot flushes for a while. I have started the Ketogenic Diet from your X Factor book and after 5 days on it, the night sweats and hot flushes are back. Could I somehow have upset the hormone balance in my system? Please try and answer this one, I’m extremely worried and can’t find anything on this in the book.

This is not an easy question to answer and indeed I cannot answer it adequately. For an adequate answer you need to find a very good practitioner of natural medicine who genuinely understands the natural treatments for endometriosis. I would say however, that it’s important to remember that the Ketogenics Diet as well as Insulin Balance is highly detoxifying to the body and one of the manifestations of detoxification when it is taking place can be hot flushes and night sweats. The hypothalamus which controls hunger, thirst, and the body’s temperature regulation is certainly involved in whatever is going on in your body.

12: I have had aggressive high grade stage II breast cancer and treatment for it, including 6 months chemotherapy, major surgery and radiotherapy. I have just taken Tamoxifen for 18 months. I am not on Tamoxifen now as I did not feel good on it. I wondered if you can recommend alternatives to Tamoxifen and any other advice in getting/staying healthy post breast cancer.

I suggest you find yourself a medical practitioner who uses natural progesterone, in its various forms. Most of what Tamoxifen does, natural progesterone will do for you but without the side effects. Almost invariably where breast cancer exists there is oestrogen dominance in a woman’s body – that is too much oestrogen while the levels of progesterone are too low. I suggest you look at John Lee’s book "What your doctor may not tell you about Menopause" in order to understand this better.

13: So glad I found your site. I bought inversion boots for a back problem. I hung upside down for about ten minutes today, so much fun, pressure around the eyes and forehead. Is this inversion therapy a good thing, it feels really good to my back?

Many people find inversion therapy to be enormously beneficial. My own experience with it is that it works best for people who are already relatively fit. It certainly is not for someone with high blood pressure or who does not have a good lean body mass to fat ratio. If it does you good I would certainly continue to practice it.

14: I am concerned about having enough calcium in my diet. Would non fat Soya drink fit in with the X Factor Diet?

Calcium is the most abundant mineral in your body. It is vital for strong bones. About 99 percent of the calcium in you body is deposited in your bones and teeth, although the remaining 1 percent has some very important jobs to do: It helps to regulate nerve and muscle contraction for instance. Calcium also enables your body to use iron properly and activates a number of important enzymes that help regulate the passage of nutrients into and out of the cells. Finally, calcium is frequently called on – and called forth from the bones – to balance the pH of your blood, making it more alkaline when it has become too acid from long term stress or drinking a lot of coffee.

In case all this makes you think you must rush out and buy a bottle of calcium pills, think again. Despite all the vitamin manufacturers currently pushing calcium supplements, research shows that taking calcium supplements is of little help in preventing osteoporosis. In fact it may even make the problem worse. Taking higher does of calcium supplements can contribute to kidney stones and interfere with your body’s use of zinc and magnesium, both of which play central roles in building strong bones. The best way to get your calcium is to eat the right kind of foods, particularly green leafy vegetables and sea plants, which are loaded with calcium in a form that your body can easily assimilate.

We have been led to believe that all you need to do for strong bones is to consume a lot of calcium either by popping pills or drinking masses of milk, and Soya milk for that matter, to which extra calcium has been added. Millions has been spent to propagate this fantasy. Yet after three generations of milk promotion and calcium pill promotion, osteoporosis has now reached epidemic proportions in the West, while in countries where milk is not drunk, it hardly exists. Milk and milk products have an extremely negative effect on your health in general. Cows get calcium from eating green foods, grass, silage, herbs, and plants, which can take the calcium from the soil and turn it into a form available for absorption by animals. Beetroot tops, Chinese leaves, rocket, lettuce, seaweeds, herbs and broadleaved green vegetables are all excellent sources of calcium. A cup of any of these vegetables supplies as much calcium as a cup of milk. Such foods provide a type of calcium that is easily used by the body as well as other important minerals and trace elements and causes none of the negative side effects of using milk products or calcium supplements or other foods to which extra calcium has been added. Include plenty of leafy green vegetables and you never need to give calcium another thought.

15: I recently did a journey to see my soul and I saw a bird of paradise where my soul lives. What does this bird symbolize? I’ve looked in various books about animal spirits but none mention this bird.

After reading your question I too looked at a number of books on mythology for bird of paradise and was surprised to find that in all of mine, it is not listed as well. However, the important thing to remember is the journey was your journey and therefore the bird of paradise speaks to you directly regardless of whatever its mythological connections may be. I do think mythological connections are interesting to explore, but it’s far more important to do a journey to the bird of paradise itself and find out what gifts it has to bring you, or what wisdom.
